The Wauconda Fire Department, part of MABAS Division 4, responded to a single-family home fire shortly after 1 PM today at 1116 Madison Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered heavy fire in the garage that had already spread to the main house and attic. The situation was escalated to a MABAS Box Alarm, which brought in mutual aid from several local departments. Fortunately, no one was inside the home at the time, and while the garage suffered significant damage—particularly to the roof and a vehicle parked inside—the main structure was only affected in the area directly behind the two-story garage. Fire companies from Lake Zurich, Lake Villa, Nunda, Barrington, Round Lake, Mundelein, Countryside, and Long Grove assisted with the incident. Larry Shapiro arrived on scene after the fire had been extinguished and captured several photos from the scene.

From the street, it might appear that the window above the garage was a bedroom, but in reality, there was no floor or finished space in that area. Larry Shapiro photo

Interestingly, there was no second floor above the garage, despite the large window visible in this Google Maps image.

Several gusset plates that held the lightweight roof trusses in the garage failed during the fire, contributing to structural instability.

Wire

Iron wire is generally made of carbon Steel wire and is usually used for weaving, baling. It is suitable for home and construction.
Iron wire is obtained by thermal annealing to give it the properties required for its main use - shaping. This wire is used both in civil engineering and agriculture. Thus, in civil engineering, it is used for iron shaping. In agriculture, it is used for baling hay. It is designed to restore the wire to its ductility lost during the drawing process.
Iron wire is stored in the form of coils or spools of different weights and sizes, depending on its use and the needs of the customer. The product is usually without any type of protective lining, paper or plastic. We offer a wide range of iron wires that provide excellent flexibility and softness through an oxygen-free annealing process.
