Chicago FD Media photo A man has died after an extra-alarm fire that broke out early Saturday morning around 8:45 a.m. on the upper level of a large 3-story brick apartment complex located at 4820 West Hutchinson Street. Initially, the fire was reported at 4320 N. Cicero Ave., where multiple 911 calls were received. The blaze quickly escalated to an extra-alarm and involved several fire companies. One man was inside the apartment when the fire started, suffered serious injuries, and was later pronounced dead at Community First Medical Center. Chicago fatal 2-11 apartment fire: At approximately 8:50 a.m. this morning, the Main Fire Alarm Office dispatched a working fire response followed by a Still & Box Alarm to Hutchinson and Cicero. The fire originated in a third-floor apartment within a 3-story U-shaped courtyard building. It spread into the cockloft and was elevated to a 2-11. Shortly after, the fire was brought under control. Tragically, there was a fatality in this incident.
