Buffalo Grove Fire Department recently introduced their new Ferrara engine, the BGFD-8002A, into service just after lunch today. Within three hours, the unit was already on scene for two medical calls and a car-in-building incident. The first call came in when a vehicle crashed into the Rainbow Cleaners at 482 Half Day Road, near Buffalo Grove Road. Police responded and reported three injured individuals, including the driver who was trapped inside the Lexus. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to remove the roof and safely extracted the driver, who appeared to be in stable condition. The other two victims signed releases and were not transported. The newly deployed engine, Engine 217, was seen on site shortly after being put into service. This marks a significant step forward for the department as they continue to enhance their emergency response capabilities. The incident highlights the importance of rapid response and the effectiveness of the new equipment. Photos from the scene, taken by Larry Shapiro, capture the efforts of the firefighters during this critical moment.
