Buffalo Grove Fire Department officially put their brand-new Ferrara engine into service just after lunch today, and within three hours, it was already on the move for two medical calls and a serious vehicle extrication. The first call came in when a car crashed into the Rainbow Cleaners at 482 Half Day Road, near Buffalo Grove Road. Police arrived on scene and reported three injured individuals, including the driver who was trapped inside the Lexus. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to remove the roof of the vehicle and safely extracted the driver, who did not appear to be seriously hurt. The other two victims signed release forms and were not taken to the hospital.
The engine, designated as Engine 217, was seen on scene shortly after being activated, showing its readiness and efficiency. This quick response highlights the department's preparedness and the importance of having modern equipment available at all times.
