Drilling Motors are essential tools in oil field equipment designed to harness the power of drilling fluids to drive the rotation of the drill bit. These motors consist of five key components: the drive shaft assembly, universal shaft assembly, motor assembly, anti-out assembly, and bypass valve assembly. When high-pressure drilling fluid passes through the bypass valve and into the motor, it generates mechanical energy by promoting the movement of the rotor within the motor. This energy is then transferred via the universal shaft and drive shaft to rotate the drill bit.
Drilling Motor Structure
Our drilling motors are positive displacement motors (PDMs), which convert high-pressure drilling fluid into rotational motion. The high-pressure fluid enters the motor, driving the rotor and shaft to rotate the drill bit. This mechanism ensures efficient and effective drilling operations, especially in challenging downhole conditions.
Types of Drilling Motors
1. **Bent Housing Motors**: We offer various types of bent housing motors, including fixed bend, single bend, double bend, and adjustable bend housing motors (with an adjustable angle ranging from 0 to 3 degrees). These motors cater to diverse kickoff requirements depending on the drilling scenario.
2. **High-Temperature Motors**: Our drilling motors are available in three temperature ranges: ≤120°C, 120-150°C, and 150-175°C. These options allow us to adapt to different operational environments, even in extreme conditions.
3. **Hollow Rotor Motors**: To enhance hydraulic horsepower and improve mud stream velocity, our hollow rotor motors feature nozzles. This design increases the total flow rate of the motor by adding the flow rate through the seal cavity and rotor together.
4. **Even Wall Motors**: By reinforcing the impact and deformation resistance of the rubber lining inside the stator housing, these motors prevent issues like rubber aging and detachment during vulcanization. This results in a longer service life and improved performance under high-pressure conditions.
5. **Rotor Coating Technology**: Depending on client preferences, regular chrome coatings can be applied. Alternatively, we can apply tungsten carbide coatings to protect rotors from corrosion in saturated saltwater environments.
Features & Benefits
All our drilling motors come equipped with a rotor catch sub. Additional features include float top subs, dump subs, or specialized catch subs. These motors are compatible with both water-based mud (WBM) and oil-based mud (OBM). They also support adjustable housings with angles ranging from 0 to 3 degrees, as well as optional screw-on or fixed stabilizers. High-torque bearing mandrels are available for enhanced performance.
