This message comes from Lt. Greg Zahn of the Waukegan Police Department. The Waukegan Police and Fire Memorial Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established in 2017 by dedicated members of the Waukegan Police and Fire Departments. The idea came from a heartfelt desire to support the families of our fallen heroes—specifically the surviving spouses and children of officers and firefighters who pass away while on or off duty. Our goal is to provide immediate financial assistance to these families when tragedy strikes, and we also aim to offer ongoing support through small gifts on birthdays and holidays for the children. Additionally, each child will receive a more meaningful gift upon completing 8th grade and graduating high school. After taking a break last year due to the pandemic, the Waukegan Police and Fire Memorial Fund is excited to return with a special event this fall. We're thrilled to host Michael Winslow, best known as Sgt. "Motor Mouth" Jones from *Police Academy*, along with his friends at the Genesee Theatre on September 9th at 7:30 PM. Not only will ticket sales directly benefit the fund, but we'll also be selling custom patches featuring the memorial logo. Each $10 patch includes one raffle ticket for a chance to win a stay at a Lazy Haven Cabin in Gatlinburg, TN. Winners can choose from several cabins, with available dates on January 10–14, 17–21, or 24–28. Please find attached a flyer and images of the patches.
