On December 4th, Guodian Jiangsu Taizhou Power Generation Co., Ltd. announced a significant milestone: the first phase of its 1000MW ultra-supercritical unit (Unit 1) successfully completed the 168-hour trial run. This achievement marks a major step forward in China's power generation capabilities. The six MPS280 roller-type coal mills, manufactured by North Heavy Industry, performed exceptionally well during the test period. Their stable operation highlights the advanced technology, high-quality construction, and efficient design of the equipment. These coal mills are not only easy to install and maintain but also demonstrate excellent performance in terms of pressure drop and power consumption.
Compared to imported alternatives, the technical specifications of these mills exceed expectations, earning widespread praise from both the project owners and industry experts. This success follows the earlier deployment of 12 BBD4360 double-inlet and double-out coal mills at Shandong Zouxian Power Plant, marking another major breakthrough for North Heavy Industry. Currently, among the three 1000MW projects in China, the coal mill equipment used in these two projects is entirely developed and manufactured by North Heavy Industry, with full independent intellectual property rights.
The 21000MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired unit at Guodian Taizhou Power Generation is a national key project and the third 1000MW unit currently operational in China. It is also the first to adopt a medium-speed coal milling system. This project plays a crucial role in demonstrating the feasibility and advantages of domestically produced, high-performance equipment. In 2005, North Heavy Industry secured the contract for 12 medium-speed coal mills for this project, thanks to its advanced technical solutions and the use of large vertical mills.
The MPS280 roller-type coal mill for the 1000MW ultra-supercritical unit was a key scientific research project in 2006. The Heavy Industry Design Institute leveraged the Taizhou project as an opportunity to incorporate international design elements while developing the largest and most advanced MPS280 coal mill in China. It retains the core features of traditional MPS mills, including dynamic lifting rollers, external hydraulic loading, and a new dual-channel pneumatic slag discharge system. Additionally, it introduces innovative disassembly technologies, such as the axial assembly dipping lower frame sealing ring structure, which is a first in the industry.
Other technical advancements include the dynamic and static combined rotary separator, rotating nozzle ring, loading and connection type, and improved grinding area structures, including the grinding roller device. All these components were designed using 3D software, ensuring precision and efficiency. This project represents not just a technological leap, but also a symbol of China’s growing capability in producing world-class power generation equipment.
Drying Machinery
Drying equipment, also known as dryers and dryers. Equipment used for drying operations, which vaporizes the moisture content (generally referring to moisture or other volatile liquid components) in the material through heating to obtain a solid material with a specified moisture content. The purpose of drying is to meet the needs of material use or further processing. For example, drying wood before making wooden molds and utensils can prevent deformation of the product, while drying ceramic billets before calcination can prevent cracking of the finished product. In addition, the dried materials are also convenient for transportation and storage, such as drying the harvested grains to a certain moisture content to prevent mold growth. Due to the fact that natural drying cannot meet the needs of production development, various mechanized dryers are increasingly being used.
