The incident occurred today around 10:30 a.m. at 21 S Hi Lusi Ave. Tower 13 was the first on scene and found heavy smoke conditions, which led to a Code 4 response (no Engine 13 available). There was heavy fire on the second floor of a 1.5-story Cape Cod home. As I arrived, crews initiated an evacuation due to a floor collapse on the second floor. For a short time, crews took a defensive approach, knocked down the fire, and then re-entered the structure. They were unable to reach the rear of the house because most properties had large fences, but there is a significant rear addition on the second floor.
Auto-aid units that responded to the Code 4 included Tower 1, DESP Engine & Battalion Chief, EGRT Engine 11, ROLM Engine, and GLVW Engine C/Q.
