Hey everyone, This is a cool post from Ryan Smith on Facebook that I came across earlier today. It’s got some really interesting details about a former fire engine that caught my attention. So here’s the gist: The vehicle in question is a 1979 Spartan/FMC 1750/500, and it was originally based out of Alsip, Illinois. Now, it's located in Big Flat, Arkansas, but unfortunately, it’s currently out of service. I can’t help but wonder what happened to it and why it ended up there. Maybe it was part of a donation or sale to another department? Attached to the post are these awesome photos taken by Ryan himself. Each one shows the fire engine in its current state in Big Flat. You can tell it has quite the history just by looking at it. I especially like how they captured all the little details—like the old-school design and the classic feel of the vehicle. I also noticed that the captions under each image credit Ryan for the photos. That’s a nice touch! It’s always good to give credit where it’s due. And at the very bottom of the post, someone named Danny left a quick “thanks” comment. Simple but meaningful! Overall, this is such an interesting piece of fire service history. It makes me curious about the journey this vehicle has been on and the people who used it over the years. If anyone knows more about it or has any stories connected to it, I’d love to hear them! Anyway, hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did. Let me know your thoughts below if you have anything to add! Take care, [Your Name]
