Recently, the tailings dry stacking system at Jinling Iron Mine in Caiyuan Town, Qian'an City, was officially put into operation after an investment of 15 million yuan. This innovative system has successfully achieved a win-win outcome in terms of safe production, energy efficiency, and resource conservation. The dry stacking technology involves multiple stages of concentration for the tailings slurry generated during the ore beneficiation process. It then uses high-efficiency dehydration equipment, such as filter presses or ceramic filters, to separate water from the sediment.
After further processing, two types of sand can be obtained: construction sand and reusable farmland sand. The separated water is also recycled, significantly improving water utilization efficiency. The implementation of this project not only reduces the costs associated with building and maintaining traditional tailings ponds but also minimizes land use, eliminates potential safety risks, and enhances the overall efficiency of water recycling in mining operations. This approach is highly beneficial for protecting groundwater resources and promoting environmental sustainability.
It is reported that the mine will also apply this dry stacking system to restore the old tailings pond into farmland and establish a large chestnut garden spanning thousands of acres. This initiative aims to create a more ecological, environmentally friendly, and energy-efficient mining environment, aligning with broader goals of sustainable development and green mining practices.
