This is from Eric Haak:

On Sunday afternoon at 4:45 PM, I followed Engine 65 and Truck 52 down Archer Avenue to a working fire at 36th and Rockwell. The crews quickly knocked the fire down from the back door and then entered the building to finish cleaning up the remaining embers. It looked like the fire was mostly contained to the back porches and was under control within just a few minutes. Engine 65 was using their spare rig, while Engine 39 brought a second hose line through the front door to assist with suppression.

The scene was pretty intense, with thick smoke billowing from the rear of the home. It’s always sobering to see these kinds of incidents up close. I took a few photos to capture the response and the aftermath. The firefighters worked quickly and efficiently, which is what you’d expect from such a well-trained team. It’s a reminder of how important it is to have these emergency services ready to respond at a moment’s notice.
