This is from Eric Haak:

On Sunday afternoon at 4:45 PM, July 31st, I followed Engine 65 and Truck 52 down Archer Avenue to a working fire at the intersection of 36th and Rockwell. The crews entered from the back door, knocked the fire down, and then proceeded to mop up inside. It looked like the fire was mostly confined to the back porch area and was under control within just a few minutes. Engine 65 was using their spare rig, while Engine 39 deployed a second line through the front door. It was a quick response, and it seemed like they had everything under control pretty fast.

The photos show the aftermath of the fire, with heavy smoke visible in the first image. The second shows a Chicago Fire Department spare engine on the scene, while the others capture the damage left behind. It’s always sobering to see these kinds of scenes, but it’s reassuring to know that the firefighters were able to contain the blaze quickly and safely.
