China has mastered the kiloton polysilicon core technology
Henan Province Luoyang China Silicon High-tech Co., Ltd. has made a significant breakthrough in the field of polysilicon technology, with its 24-pair rod energy-saving polysilicon reduction furnace system recently passing expert evaluation. A panel of renowned scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology conducted the appraisal and concluded that the project possesses independent intellectual property rights, is highly innovative, and represents the leading technical level in China, reaching international advanced standards. This achievement marks China's mastery of core technologies for large-scale polysilicon production, positioning the country among the world’s top polysilicon producers.
The newly developed reduction furnace system is currently the largest in capacity in China, with each unit capable of producing 85 to 100 tons of polysilicon annually. The system features an advanced process, low energy consumption, and high safety standards, making it well-suited for mass production. Wang Zhangguo, vice chairman of the appraisal committee and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, emphasized that this breakthrough has broken foreign technological barriers in the polysilicon industry. He highlighted that the significance of the project goes beyond just the development of the furnace—it provides essential support for the growth of China's optoelectronics and silicon materials industries.
Yan Dazhou, the project leader at China Silicon Hi-Tech Company, noted that polysilicon is a critical raw material for both the electronics and solar energy sectors, and it remains scarce on the global market. With the success of this major scientific and technological project in Henan, the province is expected to see rapid development in silicon materials, solar cells, and related industries, potentially forming a silicon industrial cluster valued at 30 billion yuan.
In addition, the recent establishment of the Henan Polysilicon Engineering Technology Research Center further strengthens the region's capabilities. This center will serve as a world-class research platform for domestic polysilicon development, acting as a key R&D base for new materials, production processes, equipment technologies, and analytical methods in the polysilicon and renewable energy sectors.
