China has mastered the kiloton polysilicon core technology
Henan Province Luoyang China Silicon Hi-Tech Co., Ltd. has made a significant breakthrough in the field of polysilicon technology with the successful completion of a major science and technology project. Recently, a set of energy-saving polysilicon reduction furnaces, consisting of 24 pairs of rods, passed expert evaluation. The appraisal committee, composed of academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology, recognized the project as having independent intellectual property rights, being highly innovative, and reaching world-leading levels in technical standards. This achievement marks China's mastery of core technologies for large-scale polysilicon production, placing the country among the global leaders in this critical industry.
The 24-pair rod-efficient reduction furnace system is currently the largest capacity polysilicon furnace in China, capable of producing 85 to 100 tons annually per unit. Its advanced process design, low energy consumption, and high safety standards make it ideal for large-scale polysilicon manufacturing. Wang Zhangguo, deputy director of the appraisal committee and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, emphasized that this breakthrough has broken foreign technological blockades, offering not only a key development in reduction furnace technology but also essential support for the growth of China’s optoelectronics and silicon materials industries.
Yan Dazhou, the project leader at China Silicon Hi-Tech, highlighted the strategic importance of polysilicon as a fundamental raw material for both the electronics and solar power industries. With the support of Henan Province’s major scientific and technological projects, the province is expected to see rapid development in silicon materials, solar cells, and related sectors, eventually forming a silicon industrial cluster with an output value of 30 billion yuan.
In addition, the newly established Henan Polysilicon Engineering Technology Research Center will serve as a world-class platform for domestic polysilicon research. It will become a key center for R&D in polysilicon materials, new energy production processes, equipment technologies, and analytical techniques, further strengthening China’s position in the global polysilicon market.
