When the pressure difference across the coarse filter exceeds a set threshold, the bypass valve opens, allowing oil to bypass the filter and directly enter the main oil gallery. This ensures that the engine continues to receive necessary lubrication, even if the filter is clogged. At this point, lubrication takes priority over filtration. Although the oil entering the main gallery may not be fully filtered and could contain some impurities, the engine will not suffer from dry friction or severe damage due to lack of oil.
