New 45 kW car fuel cell engine passed the test
Recently, the newly developed 45-kilowatt fuel cell engine from Dalian Xinyuan Power Co., Ltd. has successfully completed testing and acceptance at the New Energy Automobile Engineering Center of Tongji University in Shanghai. During the test, which took place in hot weather with ambient temperatures exceeding 35°C, the engine maintained a stable rated power of 45 kW for 40 consecutive minutes. It achieved a total voltage of 365 volts and an impressive engine efficiency of 44.9%, demonstrating strong performance under challenging conditions.
In recent years, Xinyuan Power has been actively exploring and implementing innovations in fuel cell engine systems for both high-pressure and medium- to low-pressure vehicles. The company has also focused on developing advanced automatic control systems, optimizing mass production processes for critical components, and improving key raw material technologies. Additionally, they have made significant progress in the research and development of essential auxiliary system components, including membrane electrode assemblies (MEA), bipolar plates, catalysts, and their respective manufacturing techniques.
The newly launched 45 kW car fuel cell engine represents a major breakthrough in design and functionality. It introduces bold improvements in system layout, cell stack structure, MEA technology, humidification design, and overall system control. Notably, it is the first in China to introduce a flat layout design for a 45 kW fuel cell engine. This innovative layout offers several advantages, such as easier maintenance, better space utilization, and improved suitability for automotive applications. These features make it a promising solution for future vehicle electrification efforts.
