Film Testing:
The specimen is clamped between two chambers. The upper chamber is purged with high-humidity nitrogen, while the lower chamber is purged with dry nitrogen. Water molecules migrate through the specimen due to the moisture gradient, and are carried by the dry gas stream to the electrolytic sensor, which generates a proportional signal. This allows for accurate calculation of the water vapor transmission rate.
Package Testing:
The package is mounted on the lower chamber, with controlled relative humidity on the outside. The inside of the package is purged with dry nitrogen, and water vapor diffuses through the package walls into the internal chamber. These water molecules are then detected by the electrolytic sensor, enabling precise measurement of the permeation rate.
