Here's a throwback post from Larry Shapiro for #TBT: Below are some photos from a 3-11 alarm fire and EMS Plan 1 incident that took place at 4344 N Winchester on December 6, 2001. The images capture a mix of older apparatus, many of which were relatively new at the time and have since been retired or placed in reserve. One of the shots shows all three LTI tower ladders in excellent condition, a rare sight even back then. Squad 2 and Tower 5 were less than a year old during this response, making them some of the newer units on scene. These photos not only document a specific event but also serve as a reminder of the history and evolution of Chicago Fire Department equipment and operations. A great way to remember the past and appreciate the progress made since then.
