On Christmas Day, Northbrook firefighters were called to a one-car accident on Techny Road during a severe lake-effect storm. The crash occurred when a vehicle struck a utility pole, leaving two occupants unresponsive inside. Despite the challenging weather conditions, emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and safely transported both individuals to the hospital for further medical evaluation.
Tim Olk, who was nearby, captured several powerful images of the incident. His photos show firefighters assessing the driver, carefully extracting the injured from the damaged vehicle, and assisting the passenger as they were taken to safety. These images provide a rare and sobering glimpse into the efforts of first responders working under difficult circumstances.
The storm that day created hazardous road conditions, making the situation even more critical. Local authorities are reminding drivers to exercise caution during inclement weather, especially during holidays when traffic can be unpredictable. Fortunately, both victims are reported to be in stable condition following treatment.
