Aluminum Round Bars
Aluminum round bars are widely used in industrial applications due to their excellent corrosion resistance, especially in environments containing phosphoric, nitric, chloride, and sulfuric acids. The 6061 aluminum square rod is known for its stability at extremely low temperatures, such as that of liquid nitrogen, making it ideal for cryogenic applications. It also has high commercial demand due to its strength and durability.
For applications requiring maximum ductility, the 6082 aluminum flat bar is a popular choice, especially when produced with low sulfur content using ladle refining techniques. This ensures improved mechanical properties and performance under stress. In the molten state, 5052 hexagonal aluminum rods are often subjected to vacuum treatment to remove hydrogen, along with smaller amounts of oxygen and nitrogen, enhancing their overall quality.
The 6063 aluminum rod contains tungsten and vanadium, which form carbides that increase the hardness and structural stability of the final product. Similarly, in 7075 aluminum rods, elements like manganese, silicon, or aluminum are added during steelmaking to eliminate dissolved oxygen, sulfur, and phosphorus from the melt, improving purity and performance.
Key Features of Aluminum Round Bars:
- High strength-to-weight ratio
- Excellent corrosion resistance
- Good dimensional stability
- High temperature resistance
- Long service life
- Resistant to mechanical stress
- Easy to machine and fabricate
Aluminum round bars come in various grades including 6061, 6082, 5083, 5086, 5052, 6063, 7075, and 1100. They are manufactured according to standards such as ASTM B221 / ASTM SB221, and can be produced in dimensions following EN, DIN, JIS, ASTM, BS, ASME, and AISI specifications. Common sizes range from 5mm to 500mm in diameter, with lengths from 100mm up to 3000mm or more. Surface finishes include black, bright polishing, rough turning, NO.4 finish, matte finish, and BA finish.
